Inside the Idea

Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center in Vilnius hosted an expansive installation featuring thousands of handcrafted projectiles made from soil and water.

The installation, “Pluto Time,” transformed the space with a silent piano and metaphorically bullet-riddled walls, aligning the gallery’s tempo with Pluto’s distant pace. It underscored the war in Ukraine, emphasizing the significance of hope. Visitors engaged actively by trading earth projectiles for donations to Ukrainian soldiers and using the fertile soil to plant flowers, symbolizing renewal.

Supported by the NBA (nonbudget art) platform, the event fused art with solidarity, extending its impact beyond the visual and touching the realms of participatory art.
